Recently, the Federal Bureau of Investigations Director James Comey requested an extension to the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). CALEA, originally passed in 1994, requires telephone providers to make it possible for Law Enforcement to wire tap phones. The extension requested by FBI Director James Comey, while campaigning anti-encryption (against privacy), would allow the FBI to emplace backdoors to all smartphones; making their job easier while also showing blatant disregard for anyone's right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects,[a] against unreasonable searches and seizures (which was also extended to include personal electronic communication devices). The Foreign Intelligence Survaillance ACT (FISA) should be the ONLY exception.
