It is a recent phenomenon that pornography has been protected under First Amendment rights. Until recently, the obvious harms that such media inflict has caused them to be deemed obscene, and therefore outside the realm of free speech.
We believe that the cultural effect of the widespread nature of pornography is to blame for such atrocities as the Steubenville rape case, the molestation of children, the destruction of millions of marriages and relationships, and the commodification of women.
Due to the recent rise in sexual crime and the pervading epidemic of pornography addictions, which has been linked to depression, divorce, sexual violence, abuse and human trafficking, we request that that this administration again begin prosecuting the producers and distributors of pornography.
