Enforce International Law Protecting Whales

Created by M.W. on April 22, 2014

Japan continues to defy and deliberately disobey international laws protecting whales and other cetaceans. The Hague recently ruled against Japan and their whaling program in the Southern Ocean, however Japan responded to this by announcing shortly thereafter that it would continue to hunt whales in the Pacific Ocean. This is in addition to the killing of various cetaceans near the shores of Japan (i.e. Taiji Cove).

Intervention and enforcement is required to ensure that international laws are respected and that at-risk species are protected.

The signers of this petition call on the Government of the United States to utilize any and all appropriate means to enforce international laws protecting whales and to stop Japan from continuing the mass slaughter of all cetacean species.
