For the past 25 or so years, American manufacturing has diminished as more and more retailers buy goods produced in China. China's economy has exploded and is now second to that of the United States. However, China is not a friend of the US. It repeatedly opposes American policies, and is against the freedoms this country stands for. China is also well-known for their human rights and environmental violations.
Manufacturing in China gives our support to an enemy nation. It takes jobs and money away from the United States, and goes against American values. Therefore, it is in the best interests of America to create and enforce a large (30% or more) tariff on all goods from China, and punish companies breaking that law.
