Within the past few years marijuana has been legalized at the state level for recreational use in Colorado, Washington, and Oregon. This brings state policy into question.
The Obama Administration should first support initiatives that further ban Marijuana use by individuals residing in a state that has legalized its recreational use. By supporting a Federal policy that nullifies the State policies now in place, the recreational use of Marijuana can be stopped once and for all. Furthermore, the Obama Administration should take legal action to shut down the dispensaries that provide the Schedule I drug to consumers. By doing so, the trafficking of this dangerous drug can be halted. These steps can put an end to the dangerous and addictive practice of marijuana use.
