Enforce The Minimum Wage For Waiters/Waitresses.

This petition refers to waiters/waitresses who are not paid from a mandatory tipping system. For any other job, the employer is expected to uphold the minimum wage when paying employees. This is not the case when it comes to servers. This puts the responsibility on the customers to supplement the pay of these employees. Not only is this unfair to both parties, but it causes the income of our servers to be unpredictable. It is our duty as a nation to treat everyone in the workforce with respect and dignity. Allowing restaurants to hire waitresses for less than the minimum wage, is denying them respect and dignity. This is also a form of extortion, as it puts the servers under great stress and anxiety to perform well enough to get enough money from tips in order to pay the bills.
