Enforce More Government Accountability in Regards to Veteran Mental Health Service Availability

Created by J.D. on April 25, 2014

Due to the lack of proper attention to mental health care for returning veterans as well as the frequency of veteran suicide (about 18 veterans per day), we petition the Obama administration to conduct a proper investigation into the availability of mental health care for veterans, the quality of the service, as well as barriers restricting service. It has been shown that many hotlines claiming to be open 24 hours a day did not have any therapist available after 12 am as well as that veteran suicide hotlines have only about 40 counselors available to field over 400 calls per day. Misdiagnosis of mental health illnesses and other limitations also restrict veterans from getting treatment. In order to properly care for those that have risked their lives to serve us, we must ensure proper care
