Enforce Native American Preference in Hiring on all Federal Agencies that provide funding and services on Tribal Lands

A tribal member on the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Indian Reservation has been denied employment by the tribal school despite a Native American preference in hiring. She has earned her degree in Elementary Education and has received the necessary credentials from the State of Maine. Bureau of Indian Education has not forced the issue. Both Maine Indian Education and the tribal school board have denied her a teaching position despite meeting the minimum qualifications required for the teaching positions that have been opened. She has been trying since 2006. The tribal school board is comprised of tribal members who are discriminating against their own tribal member. The Maine Indian Education superintendent is not forcing the issue and has noted he would never endorse the applicant.
