enforce the passing of a mandatory test composed of questions covering basic U.S. government knowledge in order to vote

Created by J.A. on November 13, 2012

It is my belief, as well as many others, that eligible voters should pass a test covering basic U.S. government knowledge in order to vote in federal and state elections. There is much documentation of voters unaware of candidates' policies. If voters are not voting based on who is the best candidate is it not counterproductive for them to be voting and having an influence on an election? It is important to note, also, that this is not discriminatory by gender or race in any way. It is a test purely of knowing the fundamentals of our government and current issues. By having only informed voters allowed to participate in elections we can put forth a candidate that is truly worthy of being in office.
