Mr President,
As your are aware the Supreme Court recently declared it unconstitutional for states to discriminate on the basis of a same sex relationship in regards to marriage rights. The Governor and Attorney General of the State of Texas have attempted an end around this decision, informing state clerks that they have the right to refuse to issue licenses to couples based upon religious beliefs. This is a clear violation of the principal of the separation of church and state. We, the rational thinking, citizens of the State of Texas request your assistance in ensuring the equal rights recently granted are fairly applied in our state. If necessary, take a page from President Eisenhower after the Brien v Board decision.
