Enforce a set of rules and regulations on the fossil fuel industry to prevent the excessive release of carbon

The government needs to take serious actions against the fossil fuel industry. By investing money into the release of all the carbon containing compounds we are only ensuring the rapid increase in the climate change. We know that by harvesting fossil fuels, the industries plan on releasing 5 times more carbon than our atmosphere can handle. Why would we sit by and allow this when that money could be put towards renewable energy sources that don't emit greenhouse gases to further contribute to climate change. We need to prevent this increase in carbon emissions to avoid the internationally agreed upon catastrophic increase in global temperature of 2 degrees Celsius.
