One of the more prevalent causes for accidents involving commercial vehicles carrying passengers for hire is driving at a speed exceeding the limit posted for the location where the accident occurs. I regularly see commercial buses exceeding the speed limit by ten or more miles per hour on our highways. This is not acceptable. GPS-enabled mapping technology has become very accurate, to the point where even personal devices can accurately display the speed limit on most roads and interstate highways. This technology should be linked to a governor installed on a mandatory basis in the vehicle's engine/drive system that would limit the speed of the vehicle to no more than FIVE miles per hour faster than the posted speed limit.
