In a country where citizens fear the act of violent crimes, ironically, guns remain an integral part of every citizen’s right to protection, freedom and culture. Lax gun control policies have lead to the recent shooting in Colorado and the act of terrorism in Wisconsin. “People who want to wreck havoc will find a way” however limiting their access to a gun may prevent many massacres. Stricter gun control policies, uniformly applicable across all states, need to be imposed. Additionally, one must understand that citizens “right to bear arms” was not intended for private use.
Currently, the gun ownership rate is high at 88.8 guns per 100 people. This being such a controversial issue, drastic measures need to be taken to ensure our safety as citizens of the United States of America.
