When was the last time you ate meat? Cheese? Milk? Eggs? Chances are, if you bought if from a store, it was a product of factory farming. Factory farming refers to raising livestock at a high density, trading health for profit, more a factory than a farm. The reason? Producing the highest output with the lowest cost. Take hens: picture 4-5 hens confined in 2 sq ft wire cages. More cages are stacked on all sides, and many birds are dead. Still more live, but only just. Their combs pasty pink, eyes dull, feathers yellowed. Factory farming is a huge health hazard. Disease spreads like wild fire, from salmonella to E. Coli, many linger in the meat and eggs that we consume. Ask yourself: Is this healthy? Is it right? If your immediate answer isn't yes, sign.
