The 2nd Amendment was written when only muskets and ball and powder sidearms were available. The NRA has morphed it into including private ownership of assault rifles and high capacity magazines. The founding fathers could have no idea these kill machines would be invented. It was written to protect Americans from an over-bearing government. Do you think your sons and daughters serving in the armed forces today would obey any order that pits them against the people of this country?
