WHEREAS the Florida election authorities systematically disenfranchised minority voters and young voters in 2000, 2004, and 2008; and
WHEREAS the Florida election authorities in 2012 systematically suppressed voting by minorities and youths; and
WHEREAS, the elected leaders of the state of Florida indicate they will continue minority and youth voter suppression by any and all means possible;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the federal government shall, under the authority of the Voting Rights Act of 1964, declare Florida a "covered jurisdiction" and directly supervise all federal elections in Florida, including pre-election registration and early voting, until such time that a full investigation of voter suppression causes such actions to be precluded for the foreseeable future.
