Enforcement of the Flag Code and Protection of the American Flag

Created by T.B. on May 02, 2016

We feel that Flag Code needs an enforcement policy to make sure that our flag is respected as our national symbol. Soldiers have fought and died defending the flag, therefore it should be protected and treated with the utmost respect. Our flag represents hope, freedom, liberty, and justice for all Americans.
Therefore, we want to establish consequences for those who deliberately and horrendously abuse our flag, such as burning or trampling during times of protest or for public attention. Any police authority may use discretion to issue a fine of $177.60 or 17.76 hours of community service.

Similar to killing a Bald Eagle, which is a protected symbol of America, the flag should be protected in the same way.
