Created by R.F. on January 27, 2013

This petition requests President Obama to support changes to federal law and adminstrative regulations to amend the classification of industrial hemp as a controlled substance under Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act. Further, we petition the President to honor the rights of the states in the absence of a change in current federal law and regulations to enact appropriate state legislation and regulations to allow for the legal cultivation of industrial hemp in the individual states as they deem appropriate for various applications, including but not limited to a feedstock for textiles, biofuels, human and animal food preparation, personal hygiene and boyd care products, paper, bioplastics/biochemicals, automobile parts, and construction materials.
