Engage in making thorium for our nuclear fuel supply instead of the conventional u238-- lftr culd be used so easily.

Created by C.D. on January 12, 2012

Thorium could be used instead of the conventional uranium 238. Thorium does not require any processing and is safe from mine to waste unlike u238 is. Furthermore if used in an lftr (liquid fluoride thorium reactor) it could actually make more fissionable material than what is put into it. Also the half life of the products from such reaction is much shorter, being measured in 10 of years instead of tens of thousand years like out current uranium is. It only makes sense for your administration to get behind this-- it could be your space race you spoke of in your SOTU speech last year. The Indian government as well as the Chinese government is already behing such developments in their countries.
