English as the Official Language of the United States of America

Created by M.H. on February 17, 2013

The Official Language of the United States should be deemed English.

The country of the United States of America is a land of many cultures and ethnic backgrounds however, we all have but one common language which is the English.

The use of other types of languages for federal documents creates a divisiveness within the country. It seems as though one ethnicity is being catered too while others are not. So to be fair to all ethnic backgrounds within the U.S. then all forms should be in the English format only.

After all if we should all speak, read and write in English if we are legally in the United States.

An example would be the U.S. passport in which it is in both English and Spanish. When did Spanish become a language of the United States.
