Enhance Federal support for publicly accessible biomedical data repositories

Created by D.S. on September 07, 2012

We believe in the power of open and accessible data to improve health, accelerate drug discovery and find cures for diseases. In the era of big data, it is shortsighted to cut support for public repositories of biomedical data. These are data sets generated at considerable public expense, and they underlie a great deal of on-going research. Enhancing Federal support for freely and publicly accessible biomedical data repositories can be accomplished without compromising patient privacy, will insure that the results of taxpayer funded research remain available and useful, and will speed the discovery of new drugs, new cures for disease and the development of more effective health care for all Americans.
