Enhance the process of issuing non-immigrant (tourist) visas to US citizens' direct relatives

Created by A.D. on February 28, 2012

We believe that a process of issuing non-immigrant visas to direct relatives of US citizens should be enhanced. The process of issuing such visas assumes everyone a potential immigrant who has to prove that he or she is not going to become an illegal immigrant (section 241b). US citizens have the right to bring their parents/children to live in the US. Such people should be able to visit their US relatives with a non-immigrant visa if the do not wish to immigrate. It's hard for them to prove to a consular officer that they have stronger ties with their country than with US. Issuance of non-immigrant visas to such people should follow a different, more forgiving process, or a separate type of non-immigrant visa for US citizens' direct relatives should be created.
