On YouTube and elsewhere companies and individuals are abusing their copyrights by falsely claiming that fair use is not present when it is obviously there to any reasonable person. While many of these abuses occur without the involvement of a court, they are allowed to happen because the law gives websites strong incentive to dodge liability by putting inadequate and automated procedures in place that do nothing to protect fair use of copyrighted material. Since the whole point of fair use is to protect freedom of expression as enshrined in the First Amendment, this situation is not only unethical but unconstitutional. It needs to end, and it needs to end now. #WTFU
