Enhance The Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA)

Created by I.F. on February 27, 2013

To ensure that insurance companies expedite tests, and procedures approval for women on their road to breast cancer treatment. It should not take two weeks for a CAT, or PET scan or an MRI looking for metastasis to be approved! If a physician labels the test approval request "urgent" they should not be chastised by the insurance companies for doing so. Legislating for the insurance companies to cover all parts of cancer treatment should go further by ensuring that patients can afford the treatment. The huge copay they are left with, leave women facing going broke or going home to die.
Providers should not be allowed to turn women away because they don't have $800 at hand to cover their copay for a port implant to deliver chemotherapy. The law needs to catch up with technology.
