enormously simplify the tax code. Completing one's yearly taxes is now so complicated as to be essentially impossible.

Created by K.L. on April 12, 2015

The US tax code has become so bloated and complicated as to require hours and hours of preparation for even the most simple of cases. Loopholes are to be found everywhere and are regularly exploited to the detriment of both the government and our citizens. It is now considered essentially impossible to complete one's taxes without outside assistance, so one can, ironically, deduct the cost of tax preparation services. Heaven forbid you have a spouse or children or dependents or real estate or investments or any other "extraordinary" situation; if so, the number of forms necessary can balloon into the hundreds. And lest we forget, the United States is the only country in the world to tax its citizens regardless of where they are living.
