Because Republican Governed states have tried to prevent Democratic leaning voters from voting in the 2012 elections, We The Majority need to find a way to provide all citizens with a way to provide such photo ids that the states cannot control. Providing a way for people to show a federally issued photo ID - such as their Social Security card - would provide exactly this.
In this day and age when all drivers have photo IDs, it's about time we did the same with our Federal IDs. This would also help to PREVENT IDENTITY THEFT if each card also had a special verification code as is currently used on credit cards. Perhaps people can submit their own photos for the SS cards online through the Social Security web-site. I also proposed this idea to Senator Blumenthal.
