Ensure all Food Safety Inspectors are Educated, Trained, and Licensed

Food safety inspectors in many states are not required to be educated, trained, or licensed prior to working. In the Presidents home state of Illinois, Food safety Inspectors must simply report to a Licensed Inspector. This puts every single person consuming food at a restaurant or buying food at a grocery store that is inspected by one of these people at risk of foodborne illness and perhaps death. Educated, Trained and Licensed Inspectors are not simply Government Regulators but Educators to a large number of people whose actions have a direct influence on our health. Many states already follow this petition and it is high time that these Scientists are shown the proper respect and backing they deserve by enforcing standards.
