Ensuring our children get the best school lunches possible is essential for their health and well being, as we all know. However many public schools are still using the same meats and poultry that are misleadingly sold as "natural" in grocery stores, or ordering the same quality as most fast food restaurants. These meats may be FDA approved, however it has been proven that antibiotics given to poultry tend to stay in the meats even after being cooked. This is giving everyone who eats meat on a daily basis an extra dose of antibiotics they didn't need, rendering many current antibiotics eventually useless. If we are going to tackle childhood obesity in schools, why not take a shot at providing certified organic and hormone/additive/antibiotic-free proteins to these schools as well?
