ENSURE THAT ALL STATES REMOVE ALL RECORDS OF STATE TAX LIENS FROM CREDIT REPORTS UPON PAYMENT OF OWED TAXES AND FEES.

Created by R.W. on November 14, 2012

IRS rules indicate that records on consumer credit reports regarding Federal tax liens can be removed upon satisfactory payment of such liens and owed taxes. This benefits the government by providing an incentive for tax payers to settle accounts so that tax payers' credit reports aren't negatively hindered by lien information.

We petition that the government enact legislation that compels consumer credit bureaus to remove negative records on consumer credit reports pertaining to tax liens at the state level once all taxes and liens have been paid in full. Such legislation will create legal consistency and continuity throughout the United States and will provide tax payers with a way to settle owed tax, as well as help create a more accurate credit reporting system.
