There are currently many creationists in positions of legal power within the US who could make major decisions to do with science in our country.
I am not saying that those that believe in a religion should not be able to have influence on science as that would be obvious discrimination and many great scientists have been religious. I am instead saying they (as well as everyone else) should not be able to make decisions that in any way undermine, slow scientific progress or any other way negatively influence science while potentially helping their own religion and/or beliefs.
