The vast majority of biologists agree that the 29 million pounds of annual antibiotic consumption (80% of all antibiotic use) by the animals we consume actively undermines the effectiveness of antibiotics as a whole and rapidly increases the rate at which "super bugs" (those resistant to antibiotics) proliferate and spread. Support the AMA, the American Society of Microbiology in demanding that the FDA make their "voluntary" restrictions mandatory.
