Ensure budget cuts do not result in reducing the meals available to deployed Service Members in Afghanistan.

The budget crisis that has embroiled our country recently and created a contentious, divisive atmosphere within our nation has resulted in yet another unfortunate victim: the stomachs of our deployed Service Members. There have been indications throughout Afghanistan that the mess halls will, starting February 1st, no longer be serving breakfast or midnight chow to our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen deployed there. Not only do we owe our military many times over and should do everything we can to guarantee that they have our full support when they are deployed, this removal of meals is going to have a definable impact on the mission. As Napoleon Bonaparte said, “An army marches on its stomach.” Let’s safeguard our military by not allowing this victual austerity measure to linger.
