Ensure Congress does NOT get paid during a government shutdown.

Created by P.S. on September 30, 2013

Currently members of Congress continue to receive paychecks even when they're unable to pass a budget to keep the government working. Some members of Congress have "pledged" not to receive a paycheck if the government does shutdown, which is just short of humorous considering the public's current all-time-low vote of confidence in Congress.

Although it’s truly unclear whether a voluntary revocation of pay would be enough for voters, many would likely still resent the fact that lawmakers have a choice while federal employees do not.

This petition moves to enact, by law, a mandate to cut and/or revoke the paycheck for all members of the Senate and the House should both or either be unable to pass a budget bill regardless of partisanship, amendments, and/or "kick-the-can" tactics.
