Ensure counselors working for Veterans Administration Hospitals, Outpatient Clinics have military background experience.

Created by A.J. on November 22, 2014

I am petitioning counselors who work at the Veterans Administration to have prior military experience. It is important counselors are acclimated to the military culture, especially counselors working with behavioral health, compensation and pension. A counselor with first hand experience of military service, being a family member or friend of a deployed military service member is knowledgable of the culture, language, trial and tribulations of U.S. Veterans.
A counselor who is new to the military culture may not understand, treat, have empathy or provide the correct diagnoses for the Veteran.
