On 7 & 8 Dember 2012, over 11 million Ghanaians went to the polls to vote for a president to lead Ghana for the next 4 years. New Patriotic Party drew attention to some irregularities in the collation of the results from around the country and alleged that a "systematic electoral fraud" had taken place. They pleaded to delay announcing the results for them to prove their allegation. Their plea was ignored, and John Dramani Mahama declared as President-Elect of Ghana. It is critical that the alleged electoral fraud is investigated to ensure that Ghana's democracy is secured.
All the opposition parties have all made similar allegations of electoral fraud and inflation of votes to favor John Mahama. The New Patriotic Party has petition the Supreme Court to correct this electoral fraud.
