Recently, I have come across two examples that show some of our elected officials are severely lacking in basic scientific and medical knowledge. One example is the politician who seemed to think that if a woman were to swallow a small camera a doctor could monitor her reproductive system. A second politician stated that cancer was a fungus and could be flushed out with salt water.
Many of these politicians are part of or worse head up committees that may lead to legislation. I ask that in order to qualify to run for office, one must pass a test on science, health, geography, math and American history. Those who fail can't hold office. Current official if on a committee would be tested and if they fail to show sufficient knowledge of the subject matter, will be removed from that group
