Sex education in America is appalling. Many states don't have a consistent curriculum in dealing with sexual education and most have go with the 'abstinence only' approach. However simply teaching students not to have sex until they're married is not only harmful but also incredibly idiotic. There needs to be a base curriculum which districts can then add to in order to address the needs of it's students. This base would include the video featured on HBO's 'Last Week Tonight With Jon Oliver' from August 9th, 2015 (link below). The showing of this video is the very least that can be done, but it still does a far better job of ensuring confidence in the person watching and questioning sex than many health classes in America are willing to teach.
