The wildfires raging in the Mountain West bring all our attention to the Forest Service firefighters who are risking their lives, while not making much money or even being full-time employees. As a result, many don't have health insurance. The ACA will provide subsidies for them in 2014, but they are uninsured *right now*. How many of them will be in need of health care between now and then?
Proposals include making FS firefighters full-time employees, or possibly carving out an exception which would enable them to receive health care benefits.
We should do all we can to help these brave professionals who are risking it all to save our lives and property.
