We have entered an era in which the American public is extraordinarily polarized on many issues. This is reinforced by various biases that have perpetuated in the mass media. While free speech allows people the leeway to state personal opinions, media giants such as Fox News and MSNBC both have strong leanings towards different ends of the political spectrum.
The news is a forum in which people should be informed of issues, and not informed of what they should believe in order to be a party loyalist. We need to hold the media more accountable for the news they air. We recommend that media outlets of all kinds be fined for the misstatement of facts on the news.
