The Israeli-Palestinian conflict endangers United States security. That violent, long-running fight causes strife and outrage in Islamic countries, with hostility frequently directed at the United States. That wide-ranging, unpredictable struggle increases the likelihood of the United States having to again intervene militarily in that part of the world. The United States and its allies need to ensure the negotiation and implementation of a peace settlement between Israel, the Palestinians and the adjoining Arab countries, to end that conflict before President Obama leaves office. President Obama says the United States is not at war with Islam. But if the present trend continues, we may well be at war with them.
