According to the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA), service members should be protected from not receiving civilian employment due to current Reserve/National Guard service. Based on my experience, potential employers have found loopholes to not hire these service members since it would create an inconvenience due to conflicting civilian/military schedules.
Create a law that will allow service members to omit current Reserve or National Guard duty until after they secure employment. It should be more difficult for the employer to discriminate against service members once employed.
