The San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge is being built with 100% Chinese steel, shipped to the USA from China on Chinese ships and unloaded from those ships with Chinese-built cranes. Also, some Chinese labor is being used in the USA to assemble the bridge.
This is not the only infrastructure project which is using foreign materials and labor which could have been acquired (although at a higher purchase price) in the USA.
What our government does not admit is that although we would pay more to American suppliers, more Americans would be put to work, our tax dollars would stay in the USA and our cost of public welfare would decrease.
It should be policy and law that our tax dollars are never spent on anything which can be acquired or built here in the USA.
