Ensure that people with mental disabilities are not treated as second-class citizens for their disability alone.

Created by S.M. on January 18, 2013

Although mental health infrastructure must be improved for the health and safety of the nation, and although neutral on the concept of gun control in general, we, the undersigned, request that Americans with mental disabilities have no less right or privilege to purchase firearms than other Americans, based on disability alone. If there is reason other than disability to believe that someone attempting to purchase a firearm could use the firearm in an unhealthy manner, that is another matter entirely.

This petition is not about guns. Those who signed this petition do not necessarily like guns. This petition exists merely to ensure that people with disabilities like Autism Spectrum Disorder and Clinical Depression are not treated as second-class citizens under the eyes of the law.
