Ensure that public school students in Philadelphia receive the high-quality education that they deserve

We petition the Obama administration to investigate and rectify actions by Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia School Reform Commission which prevent Philadelphia students from having a "fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education” (NCLB). Pennsylvania has denied the funding that is necessary for Philadelphia schools to properly operate and educate its students. State and city appointed members of the School Reform Commission have made unilateral decisions that adversely affect teachers and students. The United Nations considers education a human right, and we consider education a civil right, one which has been violated by Pennsylvania's failure to fairly fund urban public schools and its denial of a democratic process for Philadelphia school governance.
