ensure safeguards in the Trans Pacific Partnership to retain US rights to health, labor and environmental protections.

Created by M.C. on June 05, 2013

The US is currently negotiating a free trade agreement with countries bordering the Pacific Ocean. Such an agreement could prevent the US from regulating businesses within its own borders including regulating tobacco products, fracking, the export of liquified natural gas, the buying and selling of wood from unsustainable logging operations and much more.
Surely, having access to cheap goods and export markets isn't worth compromising the health and safety of citizens and the protection of the environment! Experience has shown that giving away too much of our national sovereignty to please multinational companies has disastrous consequences for workers, the environment and our future.
