Ensure veterans and service-members continued rights to bear civilian firearms which are analogous to service rifles.

This petition is in support of the continued rights of honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces, and current service members, to possess functional civilian counterparts to the service weapons they have grown familiar with through military service. These individuals have already succeeded in training which endorses the safe operation of such a weapon to minimize collateral damage.
The purpose of this petition is not intended to allow automatic weapons to be available, simply that a semi-automatic functional weapon of similar design and construction to the current and recent service rifles (for example, a semi-automatic AR-15 as currently legal in most states which is of similar design and construction to the M-16
