We keep Automatic External Defibrillators in public facilities as emergency life saving equipment. Yet our children, many of whom attend schools in rural areas with long emergency response times, CAN NOT LEGALLY receive a lifesaving epi-pen injection unless it is prescribed to them. New, unknown allergic reactions happen everyday. So if my child becomes allergic to something and has a reaction, should my child die because it was an unknown allergen? Every year we are forced to buy new, life saving epi-pens to supply to the school for our children. They can not attend school without this life saving device if they have a known allergy. So we ask congress to pass laws requiring all publicly funded schools to have epi-pens on hand for these unknown allergies that could prevent death.
