According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in fall 2015, about 50.1 million students will attend public elementary and secondary schools. These children are the future of America. Currently, public schools are underfunded and in addition due to the nature of the system the funding for public schools is highly subjective to inequality based on the districts they reside in.
Public schools receive the majority of their funding through the local taxes paid by business and homeowners in the district in which the school resides. This promotes inequality; unfair disadvantages to children who live in poor districts. Funding needs to be distributed equally at the state or federal level so that all schools, all children can have the opportunity to receive a quality education.
