NYT 12-10-12:
"Federal authorities decided against indicting HSBC for money-laundering.... The bank... transferred billions of dollars for nations like Iran and enabled Mexican drug cartels to move money illegally...."
HuffPo 12-10-12:
"A deferred prosecution... would make a mockery of the criminal justice system."
Rolling Stone 12-13-12:
"if you are an important person, you won't be prosecuted. Even if you [are abetting the] international narcotics trade.... You will be treated [better] than a junkie passing out on a subway car."
The Department of Justice decision not to prosecute HSBC blatantly proves that crime and justice in America is different for the rich class and the non-rich class. Pres. Obama promised to fight for the middle class. This is a huge betrayal of that promise!
