The US Center for Disease Control and Department of Justice Statistics identify that men are victims of non-consensual intercourse, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic violence at rates nearly identical to women. However, entrenched sexist legislation ranging from the Duluth Model and Tender Years Doctrine to the Violence Against Women Act deny victimized men from just recognition as victims.
Women who extract their children from DV are hailed as heroes while men who do likewise are arrested for kidnapping. Abused men who call established hotlines are ridiculed and told they 'deserved' being abused. Men raped by women are categorized as victims of "made to penetrate" so they aren't recognized as rape victims.
Stand for equality by recognizing that men are victims, too.
